1D energy, exergy, and performance assessment of turbocharged diesel/hydrogen RCCI engine at different levels of diesel, hydrogen, compressor pressure ratio, and combustion duration

There is a growing concern about the feasibility of new generation internal combustion engines in low-temperature and efficient way that can meet emission regulations while maintaining desirable power performance. This requires controllability flexibility over ignition reactivity within cylinder by handling two fuels with different chemical reaction intensity. In this research, controlled compression (RCCI) turbocharger-assisted engine proposed operates diesel-hydrogen fuels. After calibration model validation, effect pressure ratio compressor turbocharger, hydrogen energy share, diesel mass per cycle, duration on temperature rise, entropy, pressure, heat release, performance evaluated. The design variables effects exergy share work, heat, exhaust loss, irreversibility, exergetic coefficient (EPC) are assessed analyzed. Increasing significantly increase reduce fuel consumption. It proved turbocharging entropy thereby irreversibility. lower injection favored terms work EPC.
